Due to the timing of optional and elective courses, credit accumulation per semester / academic year may vary.
The curriculum fulfils the Act (559/1994 and 1200/2007), Decree (564/1994) and EU directives (updated 2013/55/EU) on health care professionals as well as nationally agreed competence requirements of registered nurse and public health nurse education (2019). The public health nurse programme (240 ECTS) includes the education of a registered nurse.
PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE 240 ECTS
BASIC STUDIES 10 ECTS:
Introduction to Swedish 2 ECTS, Swedish 3 ECTS, English 3 ECTS, Orientation to higher education studies 2 ECTS. Finnish language and communication is integrated into vocational studies.
VOCATIONAL STUDIES 205 ECTS

Nursing studies comprise of seven thematic sections divided into study modules.
The thematic sections are:

The studies follow the Community-Based Participatory Research model (CBPR) where learning and assignments can be used to benefit the development needs in the working life.
