Learning outcomes At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to: - use evidence based caring science in the care of the medical and surgical patient - take care of the patient with medical or surgical problems - understand how the health resources and the health obstacles interact in the medical-surgical care of the adult and elderly patients - understand the basics of the perioperative care (pre- and postoperative care) 3. Acitivities/contents - Patient assessment by using patient safety tools (ABCDE, NEWS) - Central caring activities and examinations in the care of the medical-surgical patient - The decision making process in health care; planning, implementation and assessment of the caring - Medical-surgical medication administration - The basics of the perioperative care (pre- and postoperative care) of the patient - Documentation of nursing (tools as ISBAR)
