    Learning outcomes of the course
    Students will be able to
    - identify common diseases and disorders that cause speech impairments
    - understand the effects of diseases and disorders on communication
    - understand the individuality of clients
    - recognise the interpreter’s role and the underpinnings of ethical decision-making in augmentative and alternative communication
    - identify different types of living environments of speech-impaired clients
    Course contents
    - physical, developmental and brain disorders, developmental language disorders, neurological disorders, trauma-related disorders, autism spectrum, stroke
    - expressive language clients, supportive language clients, alternative language clients
    - clients’ cognitive skills, touch, eye contact
    - assistance, ethical code of conduct
    - stakeholders, work environments, rehabilitation, multidisciplinary teams
