Objective

The students will be able to
- understand youth as a stage of life and as a cultural phenomenon
- understand different youth cultures and theories in youth work
- know relevant legislation and policies affecting youth
- understand different challenges faced by young people in society
- know different actors, services and work methods in youth work
- apply different approaches and methods of youth work

Teaching methods

Group Assignment
- lectures at Kalasatama Campus and other learning material that supports completing the assignment
- field visit to Ohjaamo
- field visit to a designated youth place for the assignment; data gathering about the youth place via interview, observation and reading
- preparation of the assignment (i.e. presentation) as a group
- online supervision for assignment by teachers
- presentation at youth work seminar at Kalasatama Campus

Employer connections

Field visit for the assignment is organised by the study group as adviced by the teacher.
