Objective

Competency aims:
• To support the student to purposefully, responsibly and successfully be able to study and get a foundation for his/hers career building.

• To have a realistic understanding of the own higher education learning and the importance of lifelong learning
• To know about different tools, methods and study activities that supports a target-oriented learning
• To understand the importance of collaboration for better learning
• To be familiar with studies and reflect upon the objectives of studies
• To be familiar with profession and get an insight in the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed in professional life
Digital literacy
• To understand the importance of developing digital competence and information competence
• To get the skills to independently solve issues concerning digital information, communication and content creation
• To master the most basic digital tools and function so that you can be able to study, communicate and create digital content

Content

Course contents:
Part 1 (2 ECTS) University studies of today
• Group tutorials with tutoring teacher
• Orientation in studies with Study Counselor
• Language support and mapping of language qualifications
• Contents and goal with studies
• Multicultural studies
Part 2 (3 ECTS) Digital literacies (online course in its learning)
• 1. Digital literacies
• 2. Content creation
• 3. Information literacy
• 4. Communication and collaboration

Teaching methods

The course consists of self-directed studying, individual learning assignments (sub-assignments and reflection diary) and tutorial meetings (online and classroom meetings).

It´s learning - study environment (mainly), Diakle -environment, tutorial meetings online and class meetings

Student workload

Total work load of the course: 135h which includes individual studies, e-learning and teaching

Content scheduling

Learning is progressing online in It´s learning environment step by step. Part of the course materials is also in Diakle (Diak spesific issues). The course consists of three parts which are:
1. Learning competencies include tutorial meeting(s), self-directed studying and reflection diary
2. Digital competencies
3. Information literacy

Assessment methods and criteria

To pass the course the student should follow the online learning process step by step and do the assignments in e-learning environment (sub-assignments and reflection diary).

The course is evaluated as: Passed/Failed
