Tavoitteet
After completing the course, students will:
- know the values, strategies and visions of each partner university
- be familiar with the structure and study modules of this master’s program
- be able to plan their studies according to the program structure and their finalized individual study plans
- know how to use online study and information services
- be familiar with Leininger’s theory of transcultural nursing
- be familiar with the basic approaches to global health research and research ethics
- be able to complete a community analysis to understand the local situation, comparing it to the global health situation
- be familiar with the following issues:
- theoretical basis of global health
- global burden of diseases, tropical diseases.

Opetusmenetelmät
Master's Degree student is able to retrieve, analyze and produce information on Global
health and evaluate it critically from the different fields of point of views. They also will
be capable of leading influential activities on the field of Global health care based on
ethical values. This module is tailored to meet the requirements of preparations for field
work and theoretical studies on September 2018.
Competency aims:
The aim of this intensive course in global Health is to familiarize the students with epidemiological concepts. These concepts include the basic concepts such as incidence, prevalence and mortality. The students are familiarized with Leiniger´s theory of transcultural nursing, among other theories. This basic course presents various approaches to global Health research in order to enable the students to conduct Community analyses, learn the local situation to the global Health situation
