Objective
Knowledge-based management competencies refer to producing evidence-based knowledge and its utilisation in the development of human-centred activities and in supporting decision-making. A professional in social services and health care is expected to have agile knowledge-based management competencies. Professionals are expected to be able to collect, assess, analyse and utilise information in a human-oriented manner in their own professional activities, work community, and at the organisational level, in proportion to the professional's own task.
During the course, students learn about knowledge-based management and the related concepts, value chain, different knowledge in decision-making, tacit knowledge, utilisation of knowledge from a multidisciplinary perspective, as well as social welfare and health care terminology:

After learning about knowledge-based management competencies, students are experts in their multidisciplinary roles and are able to
• explain what knowledge management means
• describe the related concepts of knowledge-based management
• analyse information and know how it is used to support decision-making in social welfare and health care
• describe the principles of evidence-based activities
• collect, analyse, utilise and evaluate data
• assess the role of clients in healthcare and social welfare as producers, users and utilisers of information.
