Sisällön jaksotus

The course starts on October 3, 2022 with introductory information webinar in Zoom at 15-16, the webinar is compulsory.

The student is considered to be participating in the teaching of the course in accordance with the requirements of the course delivery plan when he/she participates in the introductory information webinar and completes the first online exam. (Diak Degree Regulations 15§)

Student will study independently the course as following order:

1) Overview of quantitative and qualitative research methods. Recommended time to perform this section: 3.10.-9.10.2022. Student have to pass the knowledge test to be able to proceed to

2) Literature review
3) Qualitative research methods and
4) Quantitative research methods
Recommended time to perform these sections: 10.10.–4.12.2022. Student have to submit the learning assignment of the literature review (deadline 4.12.2022) and pass the knowledge test of qualitative and quantitative research methods to be able to proceed

5) Ethics during research process and
6) Validity and reliability of the research
Recommended time to perform these sections: 5.-31.12.2022
After passing the knowledge tests of ethics during research process and validity and reliability of the research, the course is finished.

Tavoitteet

The student
· is able to describe the nature of quantitative and qualitative research as well as the premises of the methodology and philosophy of science.
· is able to search for and critically evaluate national and international quantitative and qualitative scientific information and apply it to research, development and innovation (RDI) activities in accordance with the defined problem or purpose.
· is able to justify the most appropriate data acquisition and data analysis methods for the defined problem or purpose.
· is able to design a plan for RDI activities and embed ethical aspects into the research project.
· is able to analyse and evaluate the validity and reliability of RDI activities.

Information retrieval webinar 3 hours (October 4, 2022 from 3 to 6 pm (Finnish time) in Zoom)

During the course, QA classes are held in weeks 41, 43, 44, 46, 47, 48 on Wednesdays from 3 to 4 pm, in which the students can participate according to their own needs.
