Competency aims:
The aim of the course is to
• Contribute to developing the student’s competence in caring for patients suffering from different kinds of crises, dependencies, drug abuse and basic mental problems.
• The student develops their competence in contextual clinical care. The student forms their competence in the assessment and care of a patient who needs emergency care.

Learning outcomes:
The student is expected to
• Identify, to encounter and to take care of a patient’s crisis and abuse problems.
• Recognises and is able to encounter mental aspects in caring. • Understand the principles of receiving a patient in the emergency room.
• Know the basics for in-hospital advanced resuscitation.

Course content:
• Different types of crisis: • crisis care • crisis service • different types of abuse problems • basic knowledge of mental health care • introduction to emergency care • caring for and assessing patients with acute emergencies in the emergency room • multi-professional teamwork • the chain of care: pre-hospital care - care on the emergency ward • administering medication

• crisis care

• basic knowledge in mental health care
• introduction to the emergency care
• relieving and assessing the patient with an acute emergency at the emergency room
• multiprofessional team work
• the chain of care: prehospital care - care at the emergency ward
• medication administration
