Tavoitteet

Students
• can explain the factors behind the control of the human organ system and can apply their knowledge in clinical nursing
• understand the mechanisms of disease production and the changes they cause in the body

• digestion, urine excretion, hormones, fluid and salt balance, acid-base balance, thermoregulation, reproductive system, musculoskeletal system, nervous system
• location of organs in the body
• the most common scientific concepts
• clinical patient examples

Opetusmenetelmät

The study course of anatomy and physiology 2 starts with an info session in the zoom.

This course has one or two face-to-face sessions on campus. In addition, the course requires you to do some pre-assignments before each zoom sessions (3-4 times) and before the face-to-face session(s).

The lectures and exercises also include Latin and Finnish words that you will need to learn for the exam.

At the end of the study course there is an exam, which takes place on campus under supervision.



The sections are digestive system, urine formation, endocrinology, homeostasis, nervous system and senses. Reproduction is also part of the course content.

Before each section lecture (3-4 times in zoom, 1 at the campus), you will be required to do a self-study questions on Diakle and a test by consulting the literature.

An exam takes place on campus under supervision.
If you don't pass the exam the first time, you can retake it on the general exam days further. You can retake the exam twice.

You will be allowed to write two A4 pages of notes for the exam.

This study course includes in Nursing curriculum. The language is English, Latin and Finnish.

The course requires you to work a total of 54 hours, consisting of the following

Section assignments and literature review: 32 hours
Lectures: 20 hours

Exam: 2 hours

Sisällön jaksotus

The course starts with orientation lecture.
The course proceeds in stages. We move forward section by section, starting with the digestive system. Last section is about Reproductive system.
In between, you will be asked to do some self-study tasks section by section.
After the sections, there is an exam on campus.

Arviointimenetelmät ja arvioinnin perusteet

Exam, numerical 5-1/fail. The grade for the course will be awarded on the basis of the examination performance.

In addition to the exam, successful completion of a word test, all pre-assignments and tests, and listening to the lectures during the course are required for successful completion of the course.

It is very important that you set yourself a timetable.
