Objective
Objectives for the work placement
Students
• can apply, assess and develop their evidence-based expertise as a nurse and as a member of a multiprofessional team
• strengthen their skills in independent evidence-based decision-making in nursing
• can implement customer-centred guidance and support in different nursing environments
• can execute care guidance and service coordination using a variety of methods
• can administer under supervision the pharmacotherapy prescribed to a customer/patient
• find out about the duties of a coordinating nurse, team leader and manager in nursing
• can offer constructive guidance and feedback in the work community
• can utilise technology tools and applications in a customer-oriented manner and analyse the ethical challenges of their use
• develop their oral and written Finnish language skills needed in nursing
• can analyse and assess their expertise and their decision-making skills in their professional activities

Students
• reflect on a nurse’s role and responsibilities in nursing decision-making
• reflect on their teamwork and work-life skills
• consider how to support both their own and their colleagues’ wellbeing at work
• consider nurses’ career opportunities
Qualifications
In health sector education, participation in first-semester practical training and subsequent internships requires that the student has successfully completed Safe pharmacotherapy and medical calculation (PHA1) study module. Additionally, before each subsequent internship, the student must successfully complete the relevant medication administration and calculation modules related to that specific internship.
