Objective

- I understand the importance of the care relationship as part of holistic care - I understand the importance of client and patient safety as part of nursing care - I can identify the basic needs of the patient/client and know evidence-based methods for meeting basic needs - I understand the nursing decision-making process and related documentation

Content

- Key concepts in nursing and the nursing relationship. - Principles of nursing and evidence-based good care: including infection control, basic ergonomics and rehabilitative nursing. - Ethical and legal responsibilities in nursing (confidentiality, data protection) as part of patient safety. - Structured record keeping in line with the decision-making process. - Basic patient needs and vital signs, related nursing activities and methods of monitoring and observation (ABCDE basics) and communication (including ISBAR basics, NEWS scoring).

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

- I know the importance of the care relationship as part of holistic care - I know the principles of good care and identify factors affecting patient safety - I recognise patient care needs and related factors - I can make nursing decisions related to the basic needs of the patient - I Know the steps in the nursing decision-making process and the principles of structured nursing recording

Assessment criteria, good (3)

- I understand the importance of the care relationship as part of holistic care and can name the elements of a good care relationship - I can describe the principles of good care and justify the factors affecting patient safety - Assess patient care needs using a range of data collection methods - I can make evidence-based nursing decisions related to patients' basic needs - I know the principles of structured recording and can prepare a nursing report according to the steps of the nursing decision-making process

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

- I understand the importance of the nursing relationship as part of holistic nursing and I can act in interaction situations in accordance with the elements of a good nursing relationship. - I understand the principles of good care and can take into account patient safety factors in care situations - I can assess the patient's care needs in a holistic way using a variety of data collection methods - Describe evidence-based nursing decisions related to the patient's basic needs in a reasoned manner - I know the principles of structured recording and can prepare a patient-centred medical record according to the steps of the nursing decision-making process
