Finnish Language 1: Survive! (3cr)

Objective

I can communicate basic information about myself in Finnish. I can use the basic phraseology of everyday life situations. I identify some aspects about the Finnish everyday culture and habits.

The target level is A1.1 in Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Content

Introducing oneself, greetings, asking and answering, alphabets, numbers, countries and languages, weekdays, elements of Finnish culture, fundamental structures of Finnish language e.g. vowel harmony, personal pronouns, verbtype 1, consonant gradation in nouns, negative sentence.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

I can repeat given models and some phrases in Finnish.
I use some basic greetings in Finnish.
I recognize some typical features of Finnish culture.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

I can introduce myself by following instructions.
I use simple sentences according to the model.
I can name some of the most important features of Finnish culture and habits.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

I can tell about myself with most typical phrases.
I apply given models and instructions to create simple sentences.
I demonstrate willingness to understand more about Finnish culture and habits.
