Objective
This course focuses on the concept of diversity and how it can be recognised and promoted. The course examines the links between diversity and inclusion, equality, and fairness, and explores how diversity can enhance the appeal and success of organisations. Legislative knowledge forms the starting point for actively promoting diversity. The course develops the student’s understanding of the sensitive nature of diversity and how different communities can have varying perceptions of minorities.
After completing the course, the student will
- know the legislation and concepts related to diversity.
- understand the connection between diversity, inclusion, equality, and justice.
- be able to actively promote diversity in their own work organisation, while also remaining aware of the challenges of diversity-related efforts.
- identify methods that help organisations accommodate different people and make full use of their potential.
- be aware of thought models and structures that hinder diversity and how these can be dismantled
- be able to recognise discursive struggles related to diversity.
