Knowledge
On completion of the course, the student is able to:
• analyze key elements related to global and local eco-social issues and relate these to policies, political processes, local alternatives, and to eco-social initiatives.
• apply theoretical perspectives of eco-social changes in local and global situations.

Skills
On completion of the course, the student is able to:
• analyze and present relevant academic, professional texts and ethical problems related to eco-social initiatives and work practices.
• contribute to professional knowledge and problem solving on current eco-social areas in workplaces, communities and society.
• apply specialized knowledge in practical assignments and projects in a life-long perspective.

General Competence
On completion of the course, the student is able to:
• critically reflect on prevailing situation, eco-social perspective and switch of paradigms.
• apply action research skills in research projects and/or initiatives, related to eco-social community initiatives on local or global levels, such as smart cities, community

Content

This course is complementary to course “Eco-social Approaches: Theoretical foundations and Controversies”, and it provides a bridge from theoretical perspectives and debates to practical engagements related to policy proposals and community alternatives. Students study initiatives within different societal contexts, and analyse alternatives of social innovative actions together with different stakeholders, developing new knowledge, proposals, and innovative actions.
