Objective
The students will be able to   
- know different theoretical approaches in disability   
- understand the position of people with disabilities in different societies and cultures   
- understand the relevance of Finnish and international disability policies and legislation    
- apply different approaches and available services and  in work with people with disablities   
- recognise the impact of minority status on wellbeing

Location and time
- Orientation to the study module at campus. Contact teaching at campus (legislation, relevant national and international disability policies and agreements, key concepts, theoretical approaches, work-life practices in the Finnish disability field).
- Independent work on the disability assignment. Supervision for the given task.
- Final seminar in Collaborate.

Teaching methods
Study module follows blended learning including contact teaching, independent learning, online supervision, written assignment and final seminar.
                    
Completion alternatives
Written exam on Diak's general exam day 3 ECTS or participation in a pre-agreed work-life related project or similar.
                    
Further information
The study module requires skills to use Diak´s online learning area and ability to participate to online supervision. Possibility to get AHOT/RPL as described in Diak´s RPL/AHOT guidelines. No previous studies are required to attend the study module.
