Objective

Informatics competence refers to collecting, organising and storing information so that it can be put to use
in an appropriate and controlled manner. During the informatics competence course, students will reflect on data ownership
and the responsibilities related to the use of data. The availability and disclosure of information is part of informatics, as are
issues related to security and privacy. The goal of developing electronic information management services
is to enable efficient management of client and patient data, updated availability of data,
shared use of data and electronic archiving. A professional must be able to ensure that
the data is available in different service environments.

After studying informatics in social welfare and health care, the student plays a multidisciplinary role
as an expert on the matter and knows how to
• name and explain the principles of the compatibility of electronic systems
• describe and identify the flow of data in electronic information systems
• describe and explain the principles of electronic recording in social welfare and health care and methods
• to act following the legislation related to information management in social welfare and health care and its special features
• assess information sources using reliable methods
• name the special criteria and methods of the control and cooperation related to informatics
• apply the special features of data protection and information security to social welfare and health care information management
