Objective

Students
• know how to act as a diaconal specialist in the parish to promote the wellbeing and holistic health of individuals, families and groups
• know how to plan, execute and assess individual and communal diaconal work in collaboration with other actors, specialists and volunteers
• know how to develop diaconal working methods and assess their own development as a diaconal expert

Teaching methods

Starting, mid-term and final reflections will be counted to practical term working hours.

International connections

3ect is possible to do in international placement, eg. part of exchange studies abroad.

Further information

At least 12 ECTS of the work placement is carried out in diaconal work at a local parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland.

Assessment methods and criteria

Student will write aims for practise together with supervisor from local parish. Those aims will be evaluated by student, supervisor and lecturer in the end of practical term.

Base for evaluation will be from that discussion and written evaluation by supervisor and student added with list of working hours. (with signatures to both from supervisor).
