Objective

Students
- are familiar with multidisciplinary approaches to substance abuse and other addictions
- know how to work with various mental health, crisis and substance abuse customer groups in a customer-oriented manner and support the customer’s inclusion while considering the unique characteristics of various ages
- are familiar with crises and acute crisis work
- are familiar with and know how to apply the central legislation guiding and governing mental health and substance abuse work and the service system
- are familiar with the ethical principles, quality recommendations and strategies of mental health and substance abuse work as well as key national and international programmes
- know how to act in a culturally sensitive manner and support equality and diversity in mental health and substance abuse work
- are familiar with the connection between mental health and substance abuse problems and criminal behaviour
- know the significance of religion and spirituality in mental health and substance abuse work.
