Objectives for the work placement in elder care
Students
- know how to consider the significance of the diversity, multiculturality and life history of the elderly in nursing and guidance
- know how to support the wellbeing, ability to function and quality of life of the elderly
- know how to apply the basics of medical nursing in holistic elder care
- know how to consider the health promotion, family caregiving and support needs of the immediate circle of the elderly in the patient’s treatment
- know how to identify signs of disadvantage and marginalisation of the elderly in the patients at the work placement and their immediate circle and act according to ethical principles
- know how to identify the need for emotional and spiritual support of the elderly and their immediately circle and apply methods of assisting interaction and spiritual nursing in the care relationship
- know how to identify risks in the pharmacotherapy process and act according to their responsibility
- execution of pharmacotherapy through various routes of administration
- monitoring and recording the effects of pharmacotherapy, pharmacotherapy review and assessment

Objectives for the work placement in home nursing
Students
- know how to consider the significance of the diversity, multiculturality and life history of customers in nursing and guidance carried out at home
- know how to assess and support the wellbeing, ability to function and quality of life of a home nursing customer
- know how to utilise and apply assessment methods of the customer’s need for treatment to identify changes in the customer’s wellbeing
- know how to plan and assess the customer’s treatment and factors endangering their health
- know how to implement the customer’s treatment according to the treatment plan
- know how to consider health promotion and service needs of the customer and their immediate circle in the customer’s treatment

Further information
Primarily, the student will complete their work placement in home nursing. If this is not possible, it must be completed at some other point during the degree programme. The student will arrange this separately, and it will be noted in their personal study plan.
