Content scheduling
*Orientation takes places prior to the beginning of the placement.
* Final reflective workshop will take place at the end of the placement period.
* Individual supervision discussions will take place during the placement period and are agreed with all three parties (student, placement supervisor and supervising teacher).
* Reflective workshop in small groups will take place during the placement. The exact time for this will be given by each supervising teacher separately.
* All times will be announced in PRA1 Diakle
Objective
The students will be able to:
• Understand the foundations of social services work in practice
• Understand the placement context in social, health and education sector
• Develop a personal understanding of professional identity
• Apply and reflect on their skills in professional communication
• improve spoken and written Finnish language skills in the placement context
Content
• Legal framework of the field and operating in accordance with key legislation
• Confidentiality, data protection and professional ethics in practice
• The ways to organize and produce social, health and education services
• Dialogicity in interaction situations and the ability to reflect own actions
• Finnish language in the field of social services
Location and time
This placement takes place on the second semester.
Materials
The student will read materials (e.g. legislation) related to their placement given to them by their placement supervisors.
Teaching methods
This placement consist of the following parts:
* orientation to placement on campus
* placement in the social service/early childhood education organisation
* individual supervision discussion (student, placement supervisor and supervising teacher) via Zoom or Teams
* reflective workshop in small groups with the supervising teacher via Zoom
* final reflective workshop on campus
Employer connections
Placement will take place in a social service work or early childhood education organisation.
Students may visit each others placement places if it is agreed with both organisations and the placement supervisors of the students.
International connections
It is not possible to do the first placement abroad.
Completion alternatives
Placement itself cannot be completed in an alternative way
If the student will miss the workshop/final workshop they must complete it with a written assignment.
Student workload
The placement is 7 cr which equals 189 hours of students work. The credits and hours are divided as follows:
* placement hours at the placement place 180 h
* placement orientation on campus 3 h
* supervision discussion via Zoom or teams 1 h
* reflective workshop in Zoom 2 h
* final reflective workshop on campus 3 h
Further information
Each student is allocated a supervising teacher before the beginnig of the placement.
