Objective
Students will be able to
- describe key immigration policies at the national and EU level
- categorise legislation relating to immigration and the associated rights and obligations
- describe the structures and practices of the Finnish immigration administration system
- describe the refugee and asylum-seeker reception system and the related processes
- identify other key processes relating to immigration
- identify the interpreting situations of immigration services and understand the related challenges

Materials
Pääasiallista oppimateriaalia ovat luentodiat ja opintojaksolla käsiteltyjen viranomaisten verkkosivut.
Teaching methods
Opetus on enimmäkseen luentomuotoista. Mahdollisuuksien mukaan luennoijina toimivat lehtorin lisäksi eri viranomaisten, kuten Migrin, asiantuntijat. Lisäksi luennoilla keskustellaan ryhmässä erilaisista maahanmuuttoalaan ja tällä alalla tehtäviin tulkkauksiin liittyvistä kysymyksistä ja pohditaan esimerkiksi opiskelijoiden omia kokemuksia maahanmuuttoalan tulkkauksista.
Oppimista tapahtuu myös itsenäisesti tehtävien oppimistehtävien kautta.

Tentti suoritetaan opintojakson viimeisellä kerralla ns. open book -tenttinä.

Osallistuminen lähiopetukseen, noin 3-4 oppimistehtävää ja lopputentti.
Oppimistehtävien aiheina mm. turvapaikka- ja oleskelulupaprosessit, maahanmuuttoaiheisten lehtiartikkelien esittely ja keskustelu niiden pohjalta, sanaston kerääminen luentojen aikana sekä lopputentti.
