Students
• are able to plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based holistic nursing of children, adolescents and families, taking into account patient safety
• are aware of professional interaction and guidance of children, adolescents and their family members
• are able to provide fluid and nutrition therapy and pharmacotherapy to children and adolescents of different ages
• are able to recognise and treat children and adolescents and their family members in immediate need of first aid
• are able to use creative and functional methods in the treatment of children and adolescents
• are able to use health technology and implement remote guidance online and over the phone
• are able back up their actions with up-to-date research data and care recommendations
• develop their oral and written Finnish language skills needed in care settings

• enteral and parenteral fluid and nutrition therapy and pharmacotherapy
• prevention of infections and asepsis in the care of children and adolescents
• working in the most common first aid situations
• PEWS (Paediatric Early Warning Score)

• health technology and remote guidance using different methods
• decision-making and teamwork competence
• evidence-based action and treatment recommendations

Qualifications

The study module Basics of clinical nursing (CLI01) and the study module Clinical nursing skills workshops and simulations (CLI02) have been completed.
The study module Internal medicine and cancer care (IMC01) and the study module Internal medicine and cancer care skills workshop and simulation (IMC02) have been completed.
The study module Surgical nursing (SUR01) and the study module Surgical nursing skills workshops and simulations (SUR02) have been completed.
Clinical nursing of children, adolescents and families (CAF02) participation in teaching/the study module has been completed.
