• understand the principles of the prevention of infections and asepsis
• understand the importance of aseptic practices from the point of view of patient safety and are able to correctly follow aseptic practices
• are familiar with the most common and topical diseases caused by viruses and bacteria as well as their prevention in nursing
• know the principles of basic patient care and resource-based support
• understand the importance of observing patients’ vital functions
• know the principles of ergonomics
• understand the factors that contribute to a safe working environment for nursing staff
• know the governing legislation
