The student understands:
- the objectives and importance of supply chain management and what are the main logistics activities and decisions that - companies are involved with in international business environment.
- the impact of logistics on the competitiveness of the companies and economies.
- the role of technology and sustainability in supply chain management
- career opportunities, skills and expertise required in field of logistics and supply chain management.

The student is able to apply:
- process thinking and process mapping tools when describing company’s main processes.
- main key performance indicators in order to develop logistics and supply chain activities.

The student is able to enhance sustainable supply chain management.

- Key concepts and functions of logistics and supply chain management
- Basic concepts of international logistics and trade
- Main logistics and supply chain costs and key performance indicators
- Process thinking and process mapping
- Sustainability and role of technology in supply chains and logistics
- Logistics and Supply chain management as a career

Location and time

No lectures are organised for the course; instead, students progress independently in the Moodle workspace, working with the materials and assignments.

Teaching methods

This is a non-stop course that can be completed independently in Moodle. The compulsory final examination must be taken on campus.

Exam schedules

You may register for the examination on a continuous (non-stop) basis once all assignments in the Moodle workspace have been completed.

Exam Information
The exam must be taken in an EXAM room on campus. You can complete it at any Metropolia campus or at another university that uses the EXAM system (exam visit). Taking the exam online is not possible. Remember to book your exam slot in advance through the EXAM system.

Students from other universities must ensure their institution is part of the EXAM consortium (see your university’s EXAM visit instructions). Otherwise the exam needs to be taken at the Metropolia campus.

Completion alternatives

The course assessment is based entirely on the final examination. However, the assignments in the Moodle workspace must be completed before registering for the examination.
