Objective

Upon successful completion of the course, the student understands the principles of dialogic and coaching-oriented leadership and is able to critically analyse and further develop their own leadership practice based on these approaches. The student is able to lead workplace diversity through a coaching-oriented leadership approach, promote both individual and collective well-being at work, and analyse the impact of organisational change on individuals and teams. In addition, the student is able to act proactively to strengthen employees’ sense of agency and engagement within the workplace.

Materials

The prerequisite material for the course is Carol Dweck's book Mindset: The Psychology of Success. Any edition and language version will work, and you can also use online summaries of the book and Dweck's lectures.

Teaching methods

Our goal in this course is so-called flipped learning, where the goal is a self-directed student, the method is communal learning, and the learning is supported by a teacher facilitating the learning process (Toivola, M. & Silfverberg, H. 2016). The course utilizes diverse learning in the form of face-to-face and distance learning.

There is no exam on this course. There is no possibility of repeating the course if it has been successfully completed. The course must be completed within the prescribed schedule, but in exceptional life situations the completion time may be reconsidered.
