Objective

The student • understands the importance of inclusion, agency and community for individuals’ well-being • understands the dimensions of exclusion, disadvantage and inequality as individual, community and societal phenomena • is able to distinguish between societal structures and processes that marginalise and create inequality • understands the role of social security in individuals’ lives • recognises various means and actors involved in the prevention of exclusion among individuals of different ages.

• Social inclusion, agency, and community • Social risks, challenges, and protective factors at various stages of life • Inequality, discrimination, marginalisation, and disadvantage • Ageing and disadvantage • Poverty, homelessness, and loneliness • Modes and roles of social security across the lifespan • Social pedagogical methods to support inclusion, empowerment, and the prevention of exclusion

Students are expected to adhere to the given schedule for both teaching sessions and group work in order to complete the course. Teaching methods

The course is primarily intended for the group SXH25S2VE and will be completed entirely through online study. Completion of the course consists of: Participation in teaching sessions and guided small-group work Participation in the seminar and giving a presentation Participation in the Social Security workshop Submission of a media monitoring report as a group project Independent study (media monitoring and reading literature)
