Objective

The student - understands the theoretical levels, foundations and principles of health promotion - can identify factors linked to public health and perceive changes in the health of the population - can identify factors affecting the health of a community and apply this knowledge in their own work - can apply a health promotion approach in their work: bringing up health habits and supporting health changes - can apply ethical principles in health promotion - is able to consider sustainable development in health promotion.

Levels of health promotion: prevention and promotion Factors affecting population health: determinants of health The link between lifestyle and health and prevention of risk factors for chronic diseases National nutrition recommendations Motivational, empowerment and solution-focused approach to health promotion Ethics of health promotion Sustainable development in health promotion

Location and time

The course module includes health promotion (3 credits). All instructions for completing the module can be found on Moodle. The orientation will be recorded and the recording will be added to Moodle. The name of the Moodle workspace for the course module and the enrolment key will be sent to the student via Oma no later than 16 March 2026.

Teaching methods

Study is conducted as an online implementation in the Moodle learning environment. It involves both independent study and group work. The online course must utilise Metropolia UAS’s artificial intelligence guidelines. The use of artificial intelligence is not permitted in the online course on vaccination competence. The aim is to learn to seek information required in professional life from reliable sources.

Studying health promotion online. Various assignments and exercises. A failed course completion includes two opportunities, determined by the teacher, to compensate for the assignments. (This will be clarified during the orientation.) Individual examination is taken in the Exam environment.
