Objective

Upon completing the study unit, a successful student - Is familiar with the history of practical theology and understands its position among other theological fields of study - Understands the scientific nature of practical theology - Is familiar with the characteristics of practical theology as a field of study, and the nature and change of religiousness in Finland and other Western countries - Is familiar with the main features of history and theology of worship life in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland - Is able to examine worship life in a scientific framework and understands the significance of worship life in the present-day Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland - Is able to explain their own views and apply what they have learned when observing religious phenomena and participating in public discussion - is able to apply their knowledge on practical theology in life and work

Methods of completion

Suoritustavat: Suoritustapa 1: Opetukseen osallistuminen, harjoitustehtävät ja oppimispäiväkirja. Luennot 20 h ja luentoihin kuuluvien harjoitustehtävien tekeminen. Oppimispäiväkirja. Itsenäinen työskentely 115 tuntia. Suoritustapa 2: Itsenäinen suoritus ja siihen kuuluvat harjoitustehtävät ja oppimispäiväkirja. Itsenäinen työskentely 135 tuntia. Arviointiperusteet: Oppimispäiväkirja ja muut tehtävät 0-5.

Content

During the course, students will explore practical theology as a scientific discipline and delve into the nature and transformation of religiosity and the role of Christianity in Finland and in the West, focusing on its significance for religious communities and individuals. The course will also examine the importance of Christianity for Finns across different generations, as well as the fundamentals of worship life and its significance for Christian communities.
