Having completed the course, the student is able - to explain the basic principles of Orthodox church music and analyse their application in Finnish practice - define the canonical and historical tradition that regulates Orthodox church music - describe the local traditions of Orthodox church music - describe the development of Orthodox church music in Finland Generic skills: internationality; identification and development of expertise

Content

During the course, the student becomes familiar with the central principles and practices of Orthodox church music in light of the canonical tradition and history. The student learns about local Orthodox church music traditions and about the history of the Finnish Orthodox church music.

Materials

The material for the lectures and learning assignments will be provided with the lectures. The material may be in English.
