Descriptions
The curriculum fulfils the Act (559/1994 and 1200/2007), Decree (564/1994) and EU directives (updated 2013/55/EU) on health care professionals as well as nationally agreed competence requirements of registered nurse education (2019). Registered nurse studies 210 ECTS comprise 180 ECTS of general nurse competence and 30 ECTS of alternative advanced studies.
BACHELOR OF HEALTH CARE, NURSE 210 ECTS
BASIC STUDIES 10 ECTS:
Introduction to Swedish 2 ECTS, Swedish 3 ECTS, English 3 ECTS, Orientation to higher education studies 2 ECTS. Finnish language and communication is integrated into vocational studies.
VOCATIONAL STUDIES 155 ECTS
ELECTIVES 30 ECTS:
Alternative advanced studies 30 ECTS
THESIS 15 ECTS
The bachelor’s degree programme in health care comprise six thematic sections divided into study modules. The thematic sections are:
• The basis of professional encounters and the service system 29 ECTS
• Inclusion and guidance 30 ECTS
• Clinic nursing 29 ECTS
• Variety of life paths and health promotion 60 ECTS
• Applied and developing expertise 32 ECTS
• Participatory research and advocacy 30 ECTS
The studies follow the Community-Based Participatory Research model (CBPR) where learning and assignments can be used to benefit the development needs in the working life.
