Objective

Students
- understand the basis and ethical challenges of health promotion
- understand the nation’s state of health and wellbeing and related factors on the level of the individual and communities
- understand the connection of social decision-making and structures to health and wellbeing
- know how to utilise motivating health talk as an assistance method
- are familiar with the legislation and programmes related to the promotion of health and wellbeing

Content

- principles of health and sickness
- health promotion, different levels and operating methods, such as motivating health talk
- theories and models that explain health and wellbeing
- social dimensions of health and sickness in epidemiology and public health medicine
- factors behind health disparities and marginalisation
- the relationship between lifestyle and health
- norm, resource and information guidance of health promotion and wellbeing
- ethics of health promotion
