Content scheduling
Opintojakson aluksi opiskelijat keskittyvät puhevammaisuutta aiheuttaviin sairauksiin ja vammoihin luentojen kautta. Luennoilla pohditaan sairauksien ja vammojen vaikutusta tulkkauksen käytäntöihin ja etiikkaan. Aihe syventyy oppimistehtävien ja vierailujen kautta. Opintojaksolla tutustutaan eri apuvälineisiin (mm. liikkumisen). Katsekontaktin ja fyysisen koskettamisen merkitystä tulkkauksessa opitaan harjoittelemalla.
Objective
Students will be able to
- identify common diseases and disorders that cause speech impairments
- understand the effects of diseases and disorders on communication
- understand the individuality of clients
- recognise the interpreter’s role and the underpinnings of ethical decision-making in augmentative and alternative communication
- identify different types of living environments of speech-impaired clients

Qualifications
Opintojen suorittaminen edellyttää laajaa viittomien sanavarastoa ja vahvaa tulkkauksen perusteiden hallintaa. Lisäksi opiskelijan tulee tuntea puhevammaisuuden eri tyypit ja syntymekanismit sekä keskeisimpien eri asiakasryhmien käyttämien kommunikaatiomenetelmien perusteet ennen kelpoisuuskokonaisuuden aloittamista.
